Start to play
What do wizards do in Pentacore?
Wizards in Pentacore can do a lot of things. They fight for supremacy by creating
social structure. They can buy or sell items. They fight against Pole monsters. They
conquer Energy sources. They act as a spy or can steal items by entering into enemy
castles. They create weapons and artifacts. You choose your own way to play and grow
in Pentacore.
I’m an Apprentice, how do I start my life in Pentacore?
Pentacore is a strategic game. To stay alive, create huge armies, create and cast
spells and fight enemies, each wizard needs Energies.
Energy is the vital power of
Pentacore. The main resource is the Psychic Energy (EP), which is converted into
other types of energy and into will power.
Psychic Energy is generated by EP Crystals. To have enough EP, we suggest that a
wizard build at least 20 EP crystals inside the castle.
A wizard should have an idea of their goals in the game and set the composition for
crystals accordingly: to have a huge army it is better to build Mental energy
crystals (EM). If you like to hunt Pole monsters, it is better to focus on Physical
energy crystals (EF). Spies, jewellers, and weapon crafters need some of each energy
type.
Don't worry, if you make some mistakes in the crystals composition of your
castle, you can change it by demolishing and building different ones.
Books and Wisdom points (WS).
With experience, you gain wisdom! For each new experience level you get Wisdom Points
(PW) which you can use to upgrade the level of the books in your magic Library. As
the books gain levels, you will be able to update your crystals, gain access to new
buildings, new units, new items and new spells. You also receive a 1% bonus per book
level for the upgrading speed of crystals of the same energy type as that book.
Distributing Wisdom Points at the beginning.
A new wizard begins the game with all the 1st level books already created and 5 PW.
We recommend that players distribute PW as follows: 1 PW for EP, EG, EM energies and
the remaining 2 as you prefer.
How do I get experience?
You get experience through:
- A successful attack of enemy defenses
- Solving quests, both normal and text ones
- Defeating Mobs
- Defeating Monsters at Poles
- Upgrading crystals
- Belonging to a social structure (Citizens)
- Being an Official of a social structure (Citizens)
What are Mobs?.
Mobs are secret castles located in the world of Pentacore. These castles are full of
monsters. By defeating a Mob you will gain PE equal to the total strength of the
defeated army. Mobs are immune to artifacts and spells.
How do I get Will Power?
In the Chapel, click on the Meditation Rug and choose a meditation rate. Will Power
(WP) will be converted only if the Psychic Energy balance is positive. You can see
your energy balance in the Life Mirror located in the Study Room or by clicking the
icon in the upper left corner of the screen. At the beginning, to avoid using too
much energy, we suggest that players set the meditation rate to a value not more than
25%.
How do I summon an army?
To summon monsters which will fight at your side, first you must build a Summons
Circle. You can build it only in the Armory room of your castle. Each building inside
the castle has requirements for books level. Read the Encyclopedia to know which are
the Summons Circle requisites. To summon monsters you also need some Energies and
Will power.
How do I send an attack?
You can manage your army using the War Mirror in the Armory. Click on the Mirror and
a menu will be visualized. Choose how many units you want to send to attack, choose a
strategy, enter the coordinates to attack and click Send.
How do I create and use spells?
To create and use spells you must build a Spell Crystal in your Beauty Room. After
building the Crystal, you can create and cast spells using the menu inside the
Crystal itself. To use a spell, you must put it in the Treasure Chest located in the
Megaron. Then open the Spell Crystal menu, click Ready Spells, and select the spells
you'd like to use and click Apply.
For magic Duel spells, the process is different.
These kind of spells mut be inside the wizard backpack when the duel takes place.
How do I get Stron?
Stron is the virtual currency of the Pentacore world. There are several ways to get
Stron. One way is by building and selling spells, weapons and artefacts to other
players. Another way is by buying them directly at the Old Kabir Shop.
What do Artifacts and military actions spells do?
Using Artefacts, the army strength improves a lot. Even a single cabir can defeat an
army if powered by artifacts and spells.

Q: What is a “global on-line role playing strategy”?
A: Global on-line role playing strategy – an on-line game that allows thousands of players from all over the world to submerge as citizens into a virtual universe. They cooperate with each other, communicate and unite and get a chance to develop their hidden talents and skills and to be a part of a multitude of fascinating adventures. They will also get a chance to relax, enjoy the views of a magical world that is on the “other side” of ordinary reality.
Q: What is “Pentacore”?
A: Firstly, “Pentacore” is a global on-line strategy that includes the best characteristics of a full-fledged economic simulator, a step-by-step tactical game and a role-playing game. On the other hand, Pentacore is the name for a world in the shape of a dodecahedron. All of the games actions take place in the virtual reality of “Pentacore”, a magical world that brings together thousands of players from various corners of our country and abroad. In our game you will have the opportunity to In our game you will have the opportunity to build your own virtual residence, design it to your tastes and fill your stores with useful items, conduct research, open the mysteries of the five energies, join various communities and communicate with other players, build up armies, explore new territories and communicate with players from all over the world.
In “Pentacore” each player can choose to be a great commoner or a ruthless monarch, a fair ruler or an artful thief, an adventurer or a studious hermit. Any path is open to you!
Q: What is the difference between your game and other similar on-line
projects?
A: We think that the developed system of social cooperation and relationship
is what really sets our game apart from the others. It’s no secret that the
authors of other on-line games often pay the least attention to this element
and players often create their own clan web pages independently and think of
their own hierarchical systems and positions for member of those systems. In
“Pentacore”, everything is different. A detailed system of social interaction
between players is initially embedded in the game which gets more complicated
as a player moves up the social structure from nom (quarter), to demes (neighborhood),
polis (city) and politeia (state). A player gets his own residence which can
become part of a territorial unit of the smallest size to the largest. In the
case that neighbors are not exactly fond of each other they can move, but this
procedure takes a relatively large amount of resources and some time.
Q: Who are the developers and publishers?
A: Mobos, the team of developers, began in 2004 in order to create “Pentacore: Lords of Borders” Web Plus, a major internet provider in Northwest Russia is their telecommunications partner”. Publisher is Kalicanthus Entertainment an Italian Online Publisher, leader in Italian market and now opening an European portal.
Q: Is the game free?
A: The base game is free (inhabitant). If you like you can become a Citizens (premium access) with many advantages that you can find here.
The World of Pentacore
Q: So what is Pentacore?
Q: “Pentacore” was coined and by the authors of the game, since we know that any planet has to be a sphere. The world of Pentacore is unique since it is a dodecahedron, a geometrical figure with 12 sides, each of which is a perfect pentagon.
Q: Please tell me more about the history of the game.
A: The year is 212 B.C. It is the time of the second Punic War. Two great civilizations have meet in fatal combat – Carthaginians and Romans. On the island of Sicily, Roman warriors under the command of Marcus Claudius Marcella storm the ancient Greek colony of Syracuse known for its many riches. But the Wiseman Archimedes gets in their way with the help of his miraculous machines which stop the first attack and turn the Romans back. In spring of 211 B.C. the Romans are able to get past Archimedes creations and break through to the old city thanks to treason in the Greek camp. With the knowledge that the surviving citizens await a pitiful demise, Archimedes sacrifices his life to open a portal to a parallel universe, the magical world of Pentacore. But the Greeks had no way of knowing that even bigger challenges awaited them in this new world.
Q: How many states will there be in the game?
A: The number of states in the game is not limited.
Q: Can all the surfaces of Pentacore be settled?
A: No, not all of them. Two opposite surfaces, the poles of Pentacore, keep the memory of the ancient curse. These surfaces are home to terrible monsters, by defeating whom you not only raise your rating, but also but also raise your material status with the artifacts that you collect or the sources of energy you capture or fill your purse with strones.
Q: How does a player move around the world?
A: With the help of special travel spells and navigation tools, players will be able to easily maneuver around the world of Pentacore.
Characters
Q: Will there be races in the game (Orcs, Gnomes, etc.)?
A: No. Since the game takes place in a virtual and invisible world, players are associated with their knowledge of magic that can be expressed in various forms in the game which are in now way related to current perceptions of traditional reality or fantasy. But, players who settle on different surfaces will receive various bonuses that will allow them to more effectively produce energies as well as allowing their troops to be more skilled attackers.
Q: Will players’ skills be linked to a particular class (warrior, sorcerer,
thief, etc.)?
A: Our game is not a classic RPG, although it does have certain elements of the genre. A player does not get his strength from a universal flow, but rather from structures that are created in his or her residence. Because of this, there is no need to create a class system. Instead, a system of guilds will allow the opportunity to try oneself in various professions (as gunsmiths, jewelers, a spy/thief or merchants).
Q: Do characters have specific “skills” (strength, agility, wisdom,
etc.)?
A: No, this is not planned to occur based on the reasons stated above.
Q: How can one develop their character?
A: By Building objects in your own castle, or common buildings together with other players and fighting for a high position in the social hierarchy, saving up energy and battling with other players and monsters for artifacts, money and energy.
Society
Q: Please describe the principles of the social structure of the game.
А: Once registered, a player gets his own residence (castle) which he or she can design to their own taste by performing various experiments in sorcery. The simplest social structure (a nom) consists of five players and their castles. The largest territorial unit is a city (polis), which consist of up to 125 players. Further on, the social system becomes more complicated with the formation of states which can contain an unlimited number of cities within them.
Q: But a social system is unthinkable without a leader?
А: Absolutely. There are positions in the games for players of a different rank – leaders. Leaders differ in that they can access additional functions in their menu that are not available to other players. These functions can be found in a special menu of structures as well as in the building menu for public spaces.
Q: How does one become a leader?
А: The way to become a leader is to be elected to that position. In other words, leaders are chosen by other players who vote for them! We would like to think that leaders will be those players who are most active, skillful, have good leadership traits, show initiative and are talented communicators.
Q: Will there be other positions in the game?
А: Besides leaders there will be a category of players who also have some additional opportunities, officials. Officials are always appointed by leaders for a defined or undefined term. Officials have an additional menu in their interface that allows them to control functions that are not accessible to the leader. Due to this, every leader is directly interested in the formation of his “cabinet of ministers”. Leaders cannot combine their role of leader with that of an official and at the same time an official can only be appointed to one position at any given time.
Economy
Q: What can one build in the game?
А: First off, every player can equip their own residence by filling it with crystals and objects of necessity. Building each item requires using a specific amount of resources (in our game, this is energy and strength). Each room in a castle has a unique catalog of items that can be built there..
Q: Can all of the items be built alone?
A: No. In order to construct some of the structures in the game you will need the help of other players. In order to build such a structure, it will be necessary to select the nicks of the players you would like to call on for help in the building menu. They will then be sent a message with an invitation to participate in construction.
Q: Please describe energy ad strength?
A: At the beginning of the game, every player only has one resource,
psychic energy. Psychic energy, in relationship to other types of energy, is
fundamental. It is the only energy that comes on its own and all of the other
kinds of energy are formed by transforming psychic energy using special crystals.
Every crystal has a specific capacity. Unlike other objects and public structures,
crystals have an unlimited number of levels or upgrades. This characteristic
is identical for all crystals regardless of what type of energy they produce.
Q: How is energy directed?
А: A player has the opportunity to control the out put of the various energies by building and upgrading different crystals. If need be (for instance, a desire to change the balance of energy production and savings) he or she has can destroy a crystal and build another type of crystal in its place. Various magical artifacts can also positively effect the speed at which different type of energy are produced (although the relationship of their “exchange rate” does not change).
Q: What kinds of energy are there?
А: Psychic energy – this is the foundation for and penetrates all elements that make up a character and is in every individual in its pure form and influences the effect of any of the elements that makes up an individual. In its concentrated form this substance is found in the body, emotions, intellect and ideas. From birth and individual begins storing psychic energy and experiences many stages or moments until they come to blossom. Psychic energy can be sublimated by reading holy books, through meditation or the recitation of mantras or prayers. Psychic energy used in practically any situation that can arise in the game and in the building of the majority of objects or structures, in astral travel, in the creation of most units, artifacts, arms and some incantations.
Physical energy – this is synonymous for health and material status for a character. Physical energy is the sense and consciousness of the material world on sacral plane. This energy gives one the ability to create practically all of the objects of the material world and manipulate them.
Mental energy – this is conscious intellectual activity, logical thinking that allows one to calculate and think out various actions. Intellectual energy is necessary in order to complete any action and is used in the creation of artifacts and during incantations and for the summons of some types of units.
Emotional energy – this is the emotional part of consciousness. It occurs when we encounter beauty. As much as physical contact is essential to aspects of the material world, emotional energy defines the aesthetic reality of an object.
Conscious energy – this energy is responsible for the thinking process, from common sense and everyday life to deep insights and beliefs. Conscious energy is used during astral travel, in the creation of a very limited number of objects and structures and more complicated creations.
Q: How can I learn more about these energies?
А: Each crystal is related to the study of that type of sorcery. The level of knowledge in each discipline of study depends on a player’s ability to build various objects, structures, etc. In order to study any type of sorcery, a player must create a special object in the library – that is, a book of the corresponding sorcery.
Q: What function to each of the rooms of the castle serve?
A: The Study – this is the place where a sorcerer works. Here one can find those structures that answer for trading relations communication with other players, the materialization of objects and magic.
The Chapel- This is a place for prayer and meditation. An atmosphere of relaxation and solitude prevails here allowing a player to develop his or her inner world and power of mind.
The Library: this is where sacred books are stored and the place to focus secret knowledge. This is the place where you will study the five energies and the three strengths.
The Armory – the spirit of battle predominates in this room. This is a place you will spend much time summoning divisions of battle units, creating arms and destructive incantations.
The Beauty Room - – this is the refuge for true aesthetes. Visit this room and study the art of jewelry, enjoy beauty and believe in your fate.
From the central hall (Megaron) – from here you can go outside to your neighborhood
Or enter any of the other rooms. Besides that, you can find a number of objects
that you will need in future versions of the game.
Q: Will players be able to trade with each other?
А: Of course. Trade is possible on any level of the social
structure. Players can buy and sell artifacts, incantations and warriors from
each other.
Q: What professions are there in the game?
A: For now, there are four guilds: spies, weaponsmiths, jewelers and merchants.
Q: What are “strones”?
A: Money in our world is the measure for all things (BTW, energy and strength cannot be purchased in our world). “Strones” are the official currency of the world of Pentacore. Strones can be earned by producing and then selling artifacts, getting them from other players for services rendered or by conquering monsters. Besides that, each access packet for the game will already contain some strones.
Q: Will there be taxes in the game?
А: By entering a social structure a player takes on the responsibility of paying taxes. This way, a defined quantity of energy that he or she accumulates will be passed on the common pot.
War
Q: Will there be massive battles?
A: Yes, this will be one of the key merits of the game. The game will include full-fledged tactical battles with units of creatures. At the moment, this function is still being developed, but we can say that it will in some ways be similar to the battles in Heroes of the Might and Magic.
Q: Who is a players army made up of?
А: A players’ army is made up of creatures that he or she summons. The world of Pentacore is full of creatures familiar to us from ancient Greek mythology. So a player can summon Minotaur, Garpi, Cyclops and others.
Q: How can one by soldiers for their army?
А: One can draw creatures by building the proper structures in their residence or together with other players and then summoning them. Although in the future, we plan to allow players to buy and sell their creatures.
Q: How long will it take to move an army?
А: From several minutes to several hours, depending on the distance that they have to cover on the strategic map of the game.
Q: Will there be monsters to conquer in the game?
A: The top and bottom planes of Pentacore are populated by terrible creatures. When you defeat them you can gain artifacts and a few hundred coins. But there is every chance that unexpected dangers await those who seek adventure, so it is best to be well prepared for such a journey.
Technical Aspects
Q: What are the system requirements for the game?
A: Our game is an unpretentious resource in that to play comfortably all you need is a computer with a Pentium-II processor, a video card with 4MB and a connection to the internet. It is recommended you use Internet Explorer 6.0 and Macromedia Flash 7.0.
Q: What are the main components of the engine for “Pentacore: Lords of Edges”?
A: The client has been created using Flash technology and the server uses Java. All of the objects and locations were originally rendered using 3-D packets.
Q: Will the game have a full-screen version?
А: Yes. By default the game will launch in a full-screen version like any other game. But those who are used to playing in browser windows will have the opportunity to do so.
Q: Is a modem connection sufficient to play or does it require a dedicated line or ADSL?
A: The game is carried out in a step-by-step regime so a modem connection should be sufficient.
